Starting weekly injections can feel intimidating, but most patients find that semaglutide injections are straightforward once they've done it a few times.

Step-by-Step Injection Process

Step 1 — Gather your supplies: Medication vial, syringe, alcohol swab, and a sharps container.

Step 2 — Choose your injection site: Abdomen, outer thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites each week.

Step 3 — Clean the site: Use an alcohol swab and allow to dry completely.

Step 4 — Draw the medication: Follow your provider's exact dosing instructions.

Step 5 — Inject: Pinch the skin, insert at a 45–90 degree angle, and inject slowly.

Step 6 — Dispose safely: Place the needle in your sharps container immediately after use.

Tips for Comfort

  • Inject at room temperature — cold medication can sting more
  • Relax the muscle at your injection site
  • Apply gentle pressure with a cotton ball after injection if needed
